An entire chapter devoted to the mating habits of salt water snails can be found in Darwin's On the Origin of Species. Snails, of course, are asexual - perhaps a confirmation of the explorer's oft speculated dementia. Or maybe he was just an original prankster who liked to keep it real.

tech notes: Lit with sb-80dx with lumiquest softbox attachment with radio sync just out of frame upper right. Flash at 1/128th power because light was so confined in such a small space but still wanted to maintain falloff.
